AMOR meeting on March 15, 2008

Folks, we have begun planning for an AMOR affair in Las Vegas which is scheduled for October 2008. Although we recognize that it takes a lot of effort in organizing something like that, we are confident that the affair will be very successful. We had the meeting at Manong Bernie and Manang Nanie's place, complete with roastbeef and lots of other food. Kabaleyans from Oxnard and San Diego were present, local Los Angeles folks were there as well.

In this Sunday meeting, we got volunteers for the various committees. We decided that the event will be on October 18, 2008. We have not made a decision as to what venue in Las Vegas will be used.

Something else was discussed in the meeting. And that is the acknowledgement that raising funds through social events like the one is Vegas is really not an effective nor efficient way of rasing funds for the benefit of our "kabaleyans."

We need some process of raising funds that is more efficient and more productive. The idea now is to set up a foundation where individuals or groups can directly make contributions. Now...I'd like to go on and on with this idea, but since I would like to see how this blog works, I will stop for now.

Hope you'll come back to this blog. And I expect others to contribute to this blog as we go along.
